  • How much will the counseling sessions cost me?
The counseling sessions are offered on a sliding scale to provide accessible, affordable counseling.
  • The website claims “virtual coaching”. What is that and how does it work?
Virtual coaching are sessions conducted via the Zoom platform. With Mental Health Advocates situated across the country, yours may not be local to you, so a Zoom call will be arranged. Your designated Mental Health Advocate will reach out to set up a call, which can be conducted using your cell phone.
  • What if I don’t have access to Zoom? How can I receive assistance?
We will work with you and your Mental Health Advocate for other options that might work for you.
  • What if I am local to my Mental Health Advocate and prefer in-person sessions?
We would recommend a discussion between you and your Mental Health Advocate. As long as there is agreement between you and the Mental Health Advocate and everyone is comfortable with in-person sessions, then that is acceptable.

  • I only have a few hours a week to offer. Is that enough time to help someone in need?
Absolutely! If you have 2 hours or more a week to offer, we can use your expertise. You can select your own hours, choose your specialty, and work as many hours as feasible from your location.
  • What’s the process to sign up?
First, complete and submit your information on the “Contact” page so we can learn more about you. We’ll provide you a Mental Health Advocate Application. The Application will ask the specifics of your specialty, your education, your capabilities, etc. From there, we’ll conduct a background investigation and personal interview. Once accepted, we will add you to our list of qualified professionals, and you’re ready to go!
  • Is there compensation for this position?
Yes, you will be compensated as a 1099 Mental Health Advocate.
  • I noticed that you mention ‘virtual coaching’. How does that work?
After you are assigned a client, you will arrange a Zoom call with the client. While we understand that many clients may be marginalized, most have a cell phone to participate in a Zoom call. You will be provided with a Zoom Room for your sessions. Should your client not have access to Zoom, please let us know so we can discuss other options.
  • What if the client is local to me? Can we meet face-to-face?
We would recommend a discussion between you and the client. As long as there is agreement between you and the client, and everyone is comfortable with in-person sessions, then that is acceptable.
